This 2 cent Fijian coin (year 2001) is set in a 14 kt gold filled bezel. Includes 14 kt gold filled oval link necklace 18 inch chain. Pendant is 1.25 inch. Width 9/10 inch. On the reverse is an image of a Fan Palm (Pritchardia pacifica). On the obverse (front of coin) is an image of Queen Elizabeth II. .
The 2 cent denomination is no longer minted in Fiji. Starting in 2008 Fiji had issued a new set of coins that does not include 1 and 2 cent denominations. The 2 cent coin is 22mm in diameter and is a mixture of copper and zinc. Pendant length: 32mm (1.25 inch).
The Fiji Fan Palm's botanical name is Pritchardia pacifica and is from the islands of Fiji. There are 323 islands that makeup the Fiji chain of islands of which only 107 are inhabited. The climate on this island allows the Fiji Fan Palm to flourish. The Fiji Fan Palm is slow growing and can reach heights up to 30 ft but will take many years to do so.
