Mookaite is an Australian jasper that combines the lighter colors of gold, yellow and red jasper. Hand cut into a freeform shape and polished to high sheen. Mookaite can be described as chert, opalite, chalcedony or combinations of the three. Mookaite jasper colors cover a wide range of warm earthtones which can include brick red, cream, brown, gold and mauve. Mookaite is a rare multi-colored gemstone, occurring naturally in the Mooka Creek. More than 600 miles north of the city of Perth and 100 miles inland from Carnarvon, a town on the coast of Western Australia, lay mookaite deposits under the creek.
